Sometimes words can be said that land

in hurt-filled places and

fester into accusation

judgement.

Words like ‘idealist’

‘dream-chaser’

‘romantic’

Regardless of how they’re sent it’s

how they land.

don’t follow your dreams-chase them.

(chasing dreams is damn hard work)

______________________________________________________________________________

I looked into history this morning and could see these words

that have landed in hurt-filled places

and festered into wounds.

Oozing and stinging for years red

inflamed making notice

their pain-filled presence all the day long.

But somewhere along the line I realized I don’t wince anymore

those oozing stinging word-wounds they are

healed scarred over smooth

to the eye

-to touch them reveals a mark-

a relief area where something was

I am a dream-chaser

I’ve caught those dreams. only

to turn my grinning face into the fold of their cloak left

dangling from my hand as they scurry ahead with a delighted giggle

enticing me to take off again

dream-chase them once more~

in love.
